Artist News: Philly Punk Rock Flea Market

From time to time we'll be posting info about Screens 'N' Spokes artists and related news.

This Saturday July 21st 10a-5p, R5 productions will be hosting their bi-annual Punk Rock Flea Market at the Starlight Ballroom. Screens 'N' Spokes Artist Greg Pizzoli will be there selling shirts, posters, buttons and the like. He'll also be handing out flyers for the Screens 'N' Spokes show. If you're in Philly tomorrow you should check it out:

"THE SEMI-ANNUAL PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET - SUMMER EDITION ! It's that time again for the semi-annual (twice a year) PUNK ROCK FLEA MARKET. Our most popular reoccurring event/show/whatever (by far) - After over 2500 visitors (!) and 100 tables of vendors at the last one, we have decided to keep the flea market at the new venue, to comfortably accommodate all the visitors and sellers. Now with a brand new air conditioning system !

All proceeds raised will goto the purchase of necessary equipment and supplies to ensure that all ages shows continue to remain a reality at The First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia - mainly the remaining payment for our new liability insurance policy. Do not let the name lead you to believe that it's just
punk records, clothes etc. - it's a full on flea market with everything from furniture, to laptops / computers , to stereo equipment, to handmade apparel, to vegan treats, information from various non profit groups, book stores, artists selling their work, bicycles & skateboards and whatever else we can fit onto the ballroom floor at The Starlight Ballroom.

In addition to the normal flea market stuff there will also be a full bar and food service kitchen to make the day go by a little faster."

Screens 'N' Spokes 2007

Welcome to the home of the Screens 'N' Spokes benefit art show. On this blog you'll find all the important information about the show, the artists involved, and the MS150 City to Shore Bike Ride that inspired its creation.

Running throughout the month of September, Screens 'N' Spokes is a celebration of art, bikes and the people who ride them. The show will feature many outstanding artists from around the country who are designing beautiful screen printed posters for the show. They will be printed in extremely limited runs and available at the show and subsequently online (For a continually updated list of contributing artists, please see the artist links on the right).

We're extremely pleased to say that the first Screens 'N' Spokes show will be held in two locations. Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore on the Main Line and Mugshots CoffeeHouse in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia, will both house the first annual Screens N' Spokes show.

All proceeds will go towards supporting the Screens 'N' Spokes bike team and the Greater Delaware Chapter of the National MS Society. For more information on this worthy cause, please check out their website. The MS150 City to Shore Bike Ride has been a staple in Philadelphia and New Jersey for the past 26 years, and has been named the "Best Bicycle Getaway in New Jersey" by Bicycling Magazine. It will be taking place September 29-30 this year. We are always interested in additional riders for the team, you can sign up for the ride at the Screens 'N' Spokes team page.

This site will be the spot for all information about the show, including artwork as we receive it, news about our artists' other projects, details on opening night receptions, and where to purchase the posters.

Stay tuned . . . .
