Team Screens 'N' Spokes Ride to Success

Riding 20 teammates strong and looking "Professional," as Sutter put it, in our Cricket Press Jersey's, Team Screens 'N' Spokes had a great rookie ride. We could not have had better weather. Clear skies, and mid-70s greeted us on our journey. Plenty of sunshine meant for plenty of ridiculous sun tans, but it also made both days of riding very enjoyable.

Thanks to every team mate's excellent job fund raising, and from the kind donations of so many of you, our team raised over $12,000 before the ride. When we include the funds from the the Screens 'N' Spokes art show, and donations after the ride, our rookie team will contribute over $25,000 to the goal of ending MS.

We want to ride even stronger next year, so grease up your chains, and clip on your helmet and start practicing!

I took my dusty and distrusted bike out on Saturday for a chilly workout along the bike trail that runs from Northampton to Amherst (Massachusetts). I rode easily for a few miles in one direction but felt the wind against me, so I turned around and rode for a few miles in the other direction. Amazingly, the wind seemed to be against me again. This concluded my first day of training. Fortunately, there's plenty of time. Tire pressure held up nicely.

If practice is what you need after the winter doldrums come over to New Jersey, we ride early in the morning on the weekends and also on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
